Social Media Content
While managing social media accounts, I produced social videos, led a 360-video project and created graphics for social media. Here are a few examples of my work:
Breaking weather news in Southern California
When atmospheric rivers slammed into California in early 2023, the L.A. Times Instagram audience was hungry for content about the storms' impact across the state and the Southern California region. Over three months, I created reels and posts to showcase what was happening. I used audience engagement data to create the content, anticipating successes. See some of the posts I created below:

New laws series on Instagram
The L.A. Times California politics team produced a large project that broke down the new laws that would take effect in 2023. I worked on the Instagram part of the social plan. Instead of trying to cram tons of information into 10 graphics, I decided to break apart the coverage into different topics that our audience tends to engage with and shared different information across three posts over several days. Two of the three posts were on the top 20 most liked and most link in bio clicks lists of the year.

The 101 best restaurants in L.A. 2021
The annual 101 list of the best restaurants in Los Angeles is one of the biggest projects the Food team produces each year. This was the post-pandemic release of the list, celebrating the end of shutdowns, dine-in eating and a launch party. I created social plan to keep the story getting attention beyond the launch, including bi-weekly tweets, Facebook posts and Instagram posts that highlighted one of the restaurants on the list. See other social posts connected to the 101 list below:

California COVID-19 numbers
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I created a graphic that looked at new virus cases in California. While the graphic looked at the raw numbers, it also highlighted the 7-day average of new daily cases. I updated the graphic several times a month, showing the latest numbers in the state and used the caption to pull out the relevant storyline. The graphic for this day marked one of the largest increases in COVID cases in a single day. You can see examples from other days below:

Wildfire destruction
A wildfire swept through a neighborhood, destroying dozens of homes. I produced this 360 video, which was shot by a reporter walking down a street. I added the overlay video to highlight quotes and other views of the fire to really show impact. This was part of the 360-video initiative I developed at KCRA 3. I trained the reporters, figured out how to edit videos and identified stories that could work with this view. The initiative won a local Edward R. Murrow award for innovation. See the 360 video here

Stephon Clark autopsy reportsStephon Clark was shot and killed by Sacramento police in his grandmother’s backyard. Two autopsies were conducted – and they told different stories. I created a graphic for social media that highlighted the differences in the reports. It was a quick way for the audience to digest the information and draw their attention to the story. See the graphic here

Pit bull saves familyA pit bull helped save her family from a house fire. The story was heartwarming and the visuals were so sweet. I worked with the reporter and videographer so KCRA 3 could get the story online and on social media first, instead of waiting for the 11 p.m. forecast. Since we got it published before the other news outlets, we gained a lot of regional traffic to the story. I also created a Twitter Moment before our competitors, grabbing national attention to our local story. See the moment here

Shocking courtroom outburst
A man on trial for killing two Northern California deputies had several outbursts in court. KCRA 3 was in the courtroom and had the outbursts on video. I quickly gathered what happened during the trial and edited the video together for social media. I edited the clips together so it can quickly grab the audience’s attention and then built in the context in the rest of the video. I added clips of the suspect’s defense attorney saying his client committed the crimes to really showcase the what was happening during the trial. See the video here
